Shell awards offshore integrated services contract
Energi ; Shell U.K. Limited has awarded an integrated services contract to Aberdeen-based Production Services Network (U.K.) Limited (PSN).
The contract award covers the provision of engineering and maintenance services on assets operated by Shell in the central North Sea and the Brent field.
The contract is for five years with an option to extend for a further two years, and is due to begin in May 2011.
Shell has set up a dedicated team in Aberdeen to manage all aspects of the transition with all parties concerned as we work towards the handover date.
More than 1000 people are working on the current integrated services contract with Sigma 3 (North Sea) Limited (Sigma 3), which is a joint venture between AMEC, Wood Group and PSN.
The transition is planned for the second quarter of 2011 and our expectation is that the Sigma 3 companies will fully comply with the TUPE legislation, which protects the rights of employees in such situations.
Ken Robertson, Asset Manager for Shell’s central and northern North Sea assets, said: “We congratulate PSN and we look forward to working with them. They are a party to the current contract and so they know this part of our business well.
“We also recognise the significant improvements achieved by the Sigma3 organisation in delivering the current contract and would like to express our appreciation for the level of service they have provided for us over the last eight years.”
